The Three Mountains of Dewa is the collective name for Mt. Haguro, Mt. Gassan, and Mt. Yudono, and it has been said that one can be born again by visiting the three mountains. The training performed by yamabushi, or mountain ascetic hermits, is a type of asceticism for death and revival (=rebirth), including very strict jikkai no gyo (discipline of the ten realms) such as fasting, water abstention, dhuta practice, and namban ibushi (patience discipline).
In the Yamabushi Training Experience Workshop, you experience, in a white costume, a bit of the training away from the secular world and learn about the nature of the Three Mountains of Dewa and the shugendo.
Yamabushi is to absorb natural energy into your body, so to speak, by integrating yourself in nature, to feel with your own body how nature and people coexist, and to reflect on yourself through firsthand experience of the ancient yamabushi spiritual culture.
