The mountain worship practiced beyond space and time – the museum is a hub of learning, experiencing, and preserving the shugendo, and the Dewa Sanzan culture for future generations.
Its name “Ideha” has relevance to “Dewa” and the German word “idea” (meaning “ideal philosophy”).
■Lectures/Seminars
Lectures and seminars on the history of the Three Mountains of Dewa, the mountain worship, the shugendo, and other topics, are held from time to time. You can learn about the world of the Three Mountains of Dewa and rediscover their fascination.■Horagai Lesson
The sound of the horagai, a trumpet made from a large conch shell used by yamabushi of the Three Mountains of Dewa, is said to have the power to disillusion all living things and to exorcise evil. You can actually play this instrument in the lesson.(*Please take sufficient measures to prevent infectious diseases during the experience.)

Touch panels was installed in the permanent exhibition room and the special exhibition room. You can take the Dewa Sanzan culture quiz in English.

Permanent Exhibition Room – Enjoy the Dewa Sanzan Culture with Your Eyes
The facility exhibits many items related to the cultural heritage and the 1400-year history of the Three Mountains of Dewa, allowing you to learn the world of the mountains while enjoying it with your eyes.
In-booth Presentation of the “Journey of Rebirth” of Dewa Sanzan, a Japan Heritage site
This exhibition booth is intended to present the “Journey of Rebirth” of Dewa Sanzan, which obtained the designation of Japan Heritage in 2016.
The exhibited items include a video theater, photo panels, and materials collected by the Ideha Bunka Museum.
Special Exhibitions and Open Gallery
Special exhibitions are held from time to time for visitors to gain broader and deeper knowledge of the Three Mountains of Dewa through exhibitions of various photos and valuable materials. In addition, some of the spaces are opened to the public as galleries for anyone to visit freely.
Fully-equipped Facility, including a Lecture Hall
With a capacity of 200 people seated on chairs or 100 to 120 people seated at tables, the Lecture Hall is fully equipped with a stage, audio-visual equipment, and air conditioning, among other facilities, suitable for all kinds of lectures and symposiums. The extensive equipment is available in this facility, including a lecture room, Japanese-style rooms (tea room), the entrance slope, and a wheelchair accessible restroom.
Transportation Guide
> About a 40-minute ride on the public bus to “Haguro-sancho” or to “Gassan-hachigome,” departing from the #2 bus stop in front of Tsuruoka Station, and then about a 1-minute walk from the “Ideha Bunka Kinenkan Mae” bus stop.
Alternatively, about a 40-minute ride on the public bus to “Zuishin-mon,” departing from the #2 bus stop in front of Tsuruoka Station, and then about a 5-minute walk from the “Zuishin-mon” bus stop.

【Dewa Sanzan Shrine Parking】 approx. 40 vehicles (across from the Ideha Bunka Museum, about 60 meters or about a 1-minute walk to the museum)
【Zuishinmon-mae Parking】 approx. 120 vehicles (across from the restaurant “Ishii”, about 450 meters or about a 6-minute walk to the museum)
*The location of the parking for tourist coaches and minibus.
