The Kogane-do Hall of Shozen-in Temple
It is said that the Kogane-do Hall of Shozen-in Temple was built with a contribution by Minamoto no Yoritomo, praying for victory in the warfare against the Northern Fujiwara clan in Hiraizumi. It is named Kogane-do, or golden hall, after the 33 life-size statues of Kanzeon (Avalokitesvara) shining in gold, which are rare to find in Northeast Japan. The hall has been designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
